Just down the valley in Broad Chalke, the Chalke History Festival brings together some of the UK’s best historians, writers and speakers each summer.
Set against the backdrop of the valley (worth exploring any time of year ) it’s a lively and thought-provoking few days - and a good excuse to make a visit to The Talbot. -
Just over the hill on the Rushmore Estate, Larmer Tree Gardens is a wonderfully eccentric Victorian pleasure garden.
Wander among peacocks, follies and ornate pavilions, or visit during one of its events - from weddings to the Verve Wellness Festival and End of the Road. If you’re nearby, The Talbot is just down the road.
